Hello, my fellow beer drinkers and welcome to the Philly Beergrimage! Before I tell you about myself I would just like to say thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I hope you enjoy it!
My name is Samantha Brightman and I am writing a blog about beer in Philadelphia because 1. I love beer and want to learn about it and 2. I am from the Philadelphia area, so why not focus on my hometown? I grew up in Montgomery County and moved to West Philadelphia in 2012, where I started my college career at Drexel University.
Before I attended college, my knowledge of beer extended only as far as my parents’ preference, which included Yuengling Lager and Samuel Adams Boston Lager. When I tried my first IPA, I thought the taste of the beer was unique and refreshing. I wanted to learn more about the community of breweries in the Philadelphia area, so I created the Philly Beergrimage. Over the next couple months, I will be providing insightful information on the vast history of Philadelphia beer. Along with stories about the earlier days of beer, I plan to visit local breweries within the Philadelphia area today. After my visits, I will share my experience with all of you including interviews with brewers, pictures of their brewing processes, and most importantly, their beers on tap! Hope you enjoy!
